An annular solar eclipse will be visible on 21 June 2020 from large parts of Central and East Africa early in the morning. The African Astronomical Society (AfAS) has produced resources/materials on the eclipse for the public, in collaboration with outreach experts from many countries. These can be found here - please do share widely.

However, below are some useful resources regarding the annular solar eclipse:

Live webcasts
A list of online live broadcasts from around the world is available here (this will continue to be updated so check this often). Also see IAU OAO's page.

Eclipse Handbook in Kiswahili

Our handbook is now available in Kiswahili here (thanks to Mponda Malozo, Zacharia Mjungu of MMAO, Noorali Jiwaji, Ingo Koll, Africa Science Stars Magazine).

Eclipse Android App

The free app on the eclipse (adapted for Africa from the app of Astronomical Society of India), now also in Amharic and Kiswahili, at Google Play Store.

Video and audio
  • A catchy 'Annular Eclipse Song' by children in Kenya (by Travelling Telescope) on YouTube - a guaranteed earworm, do listen!
  • A Cosmic Savannah podcast on the eclipse.
  • A DIY video to make a solar viewer from Travelling Telescope.
AfAS has issued a press release found here.

This eclipse campaign is a collaboration between AfAS, the ROADs in Africa, NOCs in various African countries, and many other outreach practitioners.
