The Bible does not necessarily portray God's blessings as dependent on being in a specific desirable state beforehand. However, it does encourage certain attitudes, behaviors, and conditions that can bring about His blessings. Here are a few verses that shed light on this perspective:
  1. Psalm 37:4 - "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."
This verse highlights the importance of prioritizing our relationship with God. When we align our desires with His will and delight in Him, He will bless us with the desires that are in accordance with His plans.
  2. Matthew 6:33 - "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."
Jesus encourages us to prioritize seeking God's kingdom and righteousness. As we focus on growing in faith and aligning ourselves with His purposes, God promises to provide what we need in His perfect timing.
  3. Proverbs 3:5-6 - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."
This verse emphasizes the importance of complete trust in God and surrendering our own understandings and plans. When we acknowledge Him and rely on His guidance, He promises to lead us in the right direction.
  4. James 4:10 - "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you."
James reminds us of the significance of humility when approaching God. When we humble ourselves before Him, acknowledging our dependence on Him, He offers His blessings and lifts us up in His time and in accordance with His plans.
While these verses speak to the attitudes and behaviors that can lead to God's blessings, it is important to remember that God's blessings are ultimately expressions of His grace and love, and they may not always align with our personal desires or visions of what is desirable. His plans for us are ultimately for our ultimate good and spiritual growth.
