Tanzania-based social networking online forum, JamiiForums, that has for times been playing a whistle blowing role with its focus on social and political news has been alleged to leak its members' confidential information. Due to the nature of the platform, almost all members operate on the basis of anonymity. The news has come to my attention following this Twitter post and the related comments which reiterate blames on JamiiForums management/leadership to have been directly involved in disclosing members' confidential information to unauthorized persons or parties (screen shots attached for future records).

The claim has attributed such information leakage to JamiiForums employees, mostly moderators who happen to have access to secret members information. This is one in a series of claims by its various members in the past, that there have been recurring incidences of their secret information disclosure to the third parties, warning current and future members to be more apprehensive in regard to the forum usage.

Possible primary causes of such confidential information leakage can be intentional (often made anonymously) or unintentional, mostly through system vulnerability, shared information using non-secure tools, deliberate disclosure by employees, employees accidentally sharing confidential information, information accidentally sent to wrong recipients or through phishing scams and social engineering.
