WhatsApp on the web provided opportunities for developers and Alexandru Rosianu wasted no time by quickly coming up with an unofficial lightweight WhatsApp desktop client for Linux, Windows and OS X. Previously, Alexandru developed Facebook Messenger for Linux desktop, which is quite popular among Facebook Messenger users.
We previously showed how to install unlimited number of apps on top of Genymotion and VirtualBox, including WhatsApp: https://www.tssfl.com/install-whatsapp- ... utions-580
But now we show the easiest and the most straightforward procedure to install WhatsApp web/client for Linux:
- Download the WhatsApp Web App .deb installation file from here
- Double click on the .deb file to open and install with the Ubuntu Software Center, or through the command line by entering the following in Terminal:
Code: Select all
sudo dpkg -i whatsapp-webapp_1.0_all.deb
- Select WhatsApp from Unity Dash or Applications menu to start and launch
- Scan the QR code with your phone using the WhatsApp Web application
Once the software is successfully installed, launch it from Unity Dash. Upon first launch you will need to scan the QR code via WhatsApp in your mobile phone. Enjoy chatting with your contacts.
