The Brandenburg Medical School Theodor Fontane (MHB) is a state-recognized non-profit university under municipal sponsorship. It stands for innovative teaching concepts and the integration of research, student education and patient care. The Institute of Biostatistics and Registry Research (Prof. Dr. Michael Hauptmann) in Neuruppin conducts methodological and statistical research. The Institute also provides statistical expertise to clinicians and other investigators on diverse topics from all areas of clinical and epidemiological research.
We are recruiting a statistician/mathematician/physicist with the ambition to develop new biostatistical methods for application in cancer research and to pursue a doctoral degree. Funded by the Dutch Cancer Society and in close collaboration with the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam, the project aims to evaluate statistical methods to assess markers for personalized cancer treatment. Modifications of standard designs with an interaction between the treatment and the biomarker, including sampling of cases and non-cases for efficiency gains, will be developed, implemented and compared using simulation studies and data from several recent randomized clinical trials on breast cancer. The goal is to identify the best design and method for early predictive marker studies and to make the choice process and designs available to clinical researchers.
The project team includes the PhD student, the project leader (Prof. Dr. Michael Hauptmann), a senior statistician, a programmer and breast cancer oncologists from Germany and the Netherlands.
The position requires:
- A Master degree in (bio)statistics, mathematics, or physics
- Formal training in mathematical statistics
- Some experience with the statistical analysis of observational or randomized studies
- Strong command of English and German (minimally at B1 level)
- Start date November/December 2019
The candidate will be employed for a period of 3 years. Remuneration is comparable to TV-L (85%). More information can be found at https://www.mhb-fontane.de/institute-of ... earch.html or by contacting Prof. Dr. Michael Hauptmann.
Applications should be a single pdf document to this email and include a letter of motivation in German language and your CV. Applications will be reviewed starting end of September until the position is filled. Wir freuen uns auf Ihre Bewerbung!
