According to the Holy Book (The Bible), Salvation is God’s gift based on His undeserved kindness/grace. Salvation is eternal, means, if you are saved, you will never lose your salvation. Eternity of salvation is clearly stated in the scriptures, that Christ’s death is the only sacrifice which counts and is once and for all time. Scriptures clearly affirm, we cannot lose our salvation because we are protected by the power of God through faith, brought about by the overwhelming love and sufficiency of the person and work of Christ on the cross. Faith brings us into a gracious relationship with God, which is a gift of God through the merit of His beloved Son, The Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 1:

5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Jude

24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

Ephesians 1:

6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Hebrews 9:

11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:

14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Hebrews 9:

26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Hebrews 10:

12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,

16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

Romans 8:

31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Romans 8:

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Christ Is Risen and Sits at God’s Right Hand, He continually intercedes on our behalf by virtue of His finished work on the cross which reconciles us to God. He sits at God’s right hand as our powerful advocate and intercessor to plead our case when we sin or when accused of sin.

Hebrews 7:

24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.

25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

John 17:

11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

Romans 5:

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Revelation 12:

10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Salvation is by Grace through Faith. Christ Died as Our Redeemer and Substitute (on our behalf). By His death, He removed the barrier/sin that separates mankind from God.

Romans 3:

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Romans 5:

1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Ephesians 1:

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Ephesians 2:

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Neither your works nor efforts or whatsoever will make you earn salvation. Sin is an inherent part (a permanent attribute) of a human being, when you get saved it does not mean that you’re not a sinner, but it simply means you have being cleansed (consecrated/declared/sanctified, made holy/ legitimate/sacred) by the blood/death of the Lord Jesus Christ. In this case your sins are concealed/covered by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ – when God looks at you He sees your faith in Christ that He died on the cross so that you may be saved.

Good works, or acts of obedience show to others that your faith is alive. Although it is a quality of a disciplined Christian, God does not need to see good actions, to realize that your faith is alive or not, He knows everything about you, because, He reads your heart, your mind and your intentions.

Good works is an expected fruit of a Christian but that does not mean you can earn/work out your salvation. It is an act of obedience, faithfulness and a good discipleship for a child of God to honour/glorify and love the Lord his God with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his mind, and with all his strength (Mark 12: 30).

If you believe that you can do good works to please God so that He saves you or you can save yourself by whatever means, it simply means to you Christ died for nothing.

Galatians 2: 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law (by Good works, by keeping commandments, etc.,), then Christ is dead in vain.

James 2:

24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

What does justification by works mean? Simply put it this way:

If you tell people that do not know you, “I am a PhD holder in Biotechnology/Economics/Finance/Law”, what will you do to justify your claim? Show them your publications, certificate? It is simple, to make them trust that you’re a real PhD holder, there is something they expect from you, especially, in regard to your area of specialization. They will expect you to bear/show the fruits of your education.

How if you’re truly a PhD holder but you do not bear/show the expected fruits? Does that mean you are not a PhD holder? No, you will still be a PhD holder but, you cannot justify it by works – this will make people suspicious with your PhD education.

In the like manner, Christianity requires a person who claims it to be justified by good works, but good works do not make person a Christian.
