Python is not only a standalone programming language, but a language plus thousands of packages that interface with Python to get various tasks done. The Python Package Index (PyPI) is a repository of software for the Python programming language. It provides information about Python packages and links to their binary installers. PyPI is an excellent repository for finding new Python packages. To-date, there are about 100387 Python packages over PyPI, see more: https://pypi.python.org/pypi.
Python programming language was authored by Guido van Rossum,
a Dutch programmer who is best known in the Python community, as a "Benevolent Dictator For Life" (BDFL), meaning that he continues to oversee the Python development process, making decisions where necessary.
