Daniyal J. Jafree , Katharine Whitehursta and Shivanchan Rajmohanb have come up with an article on how to approach potential supervisors for research opportunities. We hope their article will benefit a lot of people looking for supervisors, and possibly get funding, to pursue researches in the line of their interests. Below is the abstract of the aforementioned article, which can be downloaded or read from here.

Abstract

In this article, we use our experiences to provide tips for contacting potential supervisors, what to expect from them and how to approach them for research opportunities. With appropriate planning, you will be surprised by the number of prestigious academics who would be willing for you to join their research group, and to get you involved in a research project.

Sure, how a person approaches a supervisor determines the degree of a possibility for him to work with that potential supervisor.
