Happened from February 12th - 18th 2017 at Zulu Nyala in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, The Cosmology on Safari Conference which gathered a number of cosmologists from around the globe, was an enlightening and amazing experience.
Cosmology on Safari focused on the interplay between cosmological models and data, with emphasis on the challenges that remain in cosmology. Topics covered during the conference included:
- Theoretical perspectives on dark matter, dark energy, gravitational theories and gravitational waves, and the early universe including inflation and primordial physics
- Observational probes including cosmic microwave background experiments, large-scale structure surveys, 21cm intensity mapping and global measurements, galaxy clusters, gravitational lensing, supernovae, and baryon acoustic oscillations.

However, the conference programme included optional events such as side trips or excursions, among them was touring Hluhluwe (pronounced Shshulwe) Park, the second largest in the world after Kruger.

Cosmology on Safari, March 3-9, 2019
Once again it is the time for Cosmology on Safari 2019, https://www.acru.ukzn.ac.za/~cosmosafari2019. This will be the 3rd Cosmology on Safari conference, and again we will bring together experts in the field to discuss the interplay between cosmological models and data, with an emphasis on the challenges that remain in cosmology. The topics covered will span a wide range of theoretical issues and observational probes; details and a preliminary list of invited speakers are available on the website.
Cosmology on Safari 2019 will take place during March 3-9 2019, at Anew Hluhluwe Hotel & Safaris, in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The Hotel is a 15 minute drive from the Memorial Gate of the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi game reserve, in which you can find all of the "Big 5" (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, water buffalo) and many more wild creatures in their natural habitat. There are many other activities and nature reserves to explore in the area, including the nearby iSimangaliso (St Lucia) Wetland Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The programme details are found on: https://acru.ukzn.ac.za/~cosmosafari2019/programme/
